Actually if you hit a deer or hog in the head or neck and down it instantly then bleed it, your meat will come out better. I dont cut their throats as it doesnt work well but I poke them through the brisket into the heart cavity and when you hang them every bit of bloods coming out.
Going to be getting a guide and hunting for the first time in my life! excited. Will be going within a couple days. Thanks for the tips!
Yes. Pics are good. I'm sure you'll have some stories to go with em too.
You dogging them or sitting over feeders? Either way should be fun, but I would give dog hunting a shot, as chances are you'll be able to do your own still/stand hunting for hogs over time.
just remember aim small, miss small don't be tempted to look at the whole
hog, just focus on that area the size of a quarter you want to hit, re-chamber another round immediately and if it's still standing hit it again and repeat until it is down and done for sure. hogs rear legs will kick for some time after it is stone dead so don't wory about that, but if it is squealing or the front 1/2 is moving take carefull aim and put 1 behind an ear or between an eye and ear. take your time and make the 1st one count. don't worry about letting one walk away if everything doesn't feel just right. in my book thats a better hunter. it's alot harder not to make a bad shot than to have the patience for the sure thing, plus if done right there will be no tracking
