Hi everybody. I'm new to the forum and new to hunting. I'm looking for some advice on a gun for hogs. I'm thinking $300-400 range. I've heard various opinions, everything from "just shoot them in the ear with a. 22" to "they're practically invincible, you're gonna need a big caliber gun to bring of down". What's the truth? Also, what should I put out if I'm gonna try to bait them?

Welcome... Go introduce yourself in the new members area...

12 gauge shotgun. nuff said. You can get a remington 870 between 350-400. It will take down deer, hogs, birds, and intruders...

if you plan on spot and stalk and closer ranges and do not own many/any other guns, a pump shotgun and 2 bbl.'s can cover hogs and just about anything else. if you want a rifle the fastest handling, easiest carrying, best looking with tons of history and soul would be a lever. for a versatile point blank to 300 yd, gun a carbine length/lighter wt bolt action in a short action caliber like 243,260,7mm08 or 308 work well also. some like semi actions. I'm more of a traditional wood and metal guy. decide on exactly what you want, take your time and do your homework and you should be able to find a nice specimen of the ones I mentioned. an AR NOW is gonna cost more. good luck.

If your walking and stalking 00 buck and 12 gauge.

Best all around gun hands down. 30/30 lever action.

Sent From Cr0ck1' IPhone most likely from the woods.

I have a 20ga Remington 870 Express, could I load that with buckshot and use it?
