ST. PETERSBURG - A 26-year-old woman is OK after being charged by a 200-pound wild pig in her backyard this morning, according to St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue officials.
The woman, whose name hasn't been released, was in the yard with her father at 2111-23rd Ave. N. when the pig came out from the back of a shed, and charged her, said Lt. Joel Granata in a release.
She has an abrasion on the back of her left leg from the attack but wasn't seriously injured, Granata said.
Fire and Rescue paramedics arrived at the scene to find the aggressive pig shortly after 8:45 a.m.
"At one point during the capture, the hog had me running for cover up a six-foot wooden fence," said Fire and Rescue Lt. Dan Robinson.
An animal control officer was able to lasso the hog and take it to the Pinellas County Animal Control Office where it will receive rabies testing.
