Went out by myself during small game. Sat for almost 5 hours and as I was getting ready to leave I saw three deer to my right. I wanted to mess with them so I pulled out my grunt call and started grunting. They could not see me and a couple of minutes later I watch them get spooked and jump into the thick brush to my right. I heard steps coming from a clearing behind the deer and saw this big boy walking across it. Thats when I whacked him on the neck with my muzzleloader. All four of his legs folded under him and he was gone before he hit the ground. Went to my truck, picked up my equipment and my Blue Death Truck and hoisted him up a tree to field dress him right there. Problem was that it started to rain, so I took him back to my truck and hoisted him another tree so that I could back up the truck underneath and take him home. Well, as luck would have it, my hoist broke (this big boy pegged the scale at 260) and I had to drive five miles to muster some help and hoist him on to my truck. This hog was all cut up on his hind legs from fighting.
Way to get 'er done! That's a big piece of pork, just about all your Blue Death Truck can handle. Time to upgrade that hoist if you're gonna be killing those boss hogs!
Yep, I normally use a triple pulley hoist (I believe the mechanical advantage of the three pulley hoist is 7:1, with only two is 4:1)..I normally preffer to shoot smaller hogs, but it was the last day of the season.. :shifty you know what I mean...
Nice going. :toast
Looks like he strapped to a stretcher ready for surgery. :chef
