I'm gonna be using buckshot for the first time today and wanted to know how far would you be willing to shoot at a hog ( say 150 lbs ) with 12 ga 3 inch oo buckshot, I'm guessing about 40 yds,whats your opinion?

40 yards is about right

60 feet for me. I don't have a tight choke on my shot gun, and I don't like tracking pigs. It's not hard getting close to them if you play the wind. I'd go to the range and see how tight your group is before taking the chance at wounding something. 60 feet is about as far as I'd stretch my shooting with the groups I get. Now with a slug I can hit a 3" group at 50 with ease.
