I've used hog grunts several times in the woods and NEVER had any success. However, I also have used pig squealers and had sows come running in to protect the "pig" in distress. Had a couple of young boars run in similarly. Caution, when they get there, they're usually PI$$ED-OFF!!!! A mad momma will hurt you worse than a big old lazy boar any day of the week!
Heirloom Game Calls 1-318-949-9008, has a pig squealer about the size of a cigarette lighter that works great. I have video of my buddy killing a nice sow with his pistol after he blew on that call for about three minutes.
Use it just like you're hunting coyotes with a rabbit squealer. They do work; once a sow's maternal instinct gets fired up; she's going to come investigate.

IL2H, I did pretty good with the coed girls too, but callin them hogs is not nice. some of em weren't heffers.
