Are all paid hog hunts around FL a canned hunts?
I've been checking out various hog hunting places as I've been considering one for my first hunting experience and many seems to guarantee a hog and I can't see how they can guarantee one unless they have something up their sleeve... like a planted hog.
Also, if they constantly have hogs being harvested how can they be replinished so quickly?
I would love to go to one of those places but I'm not looking for a canned hunt.
If I just want to kill a pig I can do that at the farm.
No not all of them. There are places that have free range hogs but the percentages of killing one are usually lower. Hogs are nomadic and roam a lot here one day and gone then next kinda thing. A lot of places have property set a side just for hogs to assure that you will at least see a hog while your there hunting with them. There are some places that will over populate the property with to many hogs. I don't see how any one can guarantee any kill. keeping hogs, some places buy them from trappers and some go catch and trap there own. If you go on a guided hunt and sit in a tree stand and that hog comes in and you kill it, does it make a difference if it was on 10 acres or 1000 acres ? The free range farms I hunt make me pay a trespass fee every time some one goes hunting whether there is some thing killed or not, the client pays that fee to me to hunt. Some times there is great success and some times there is not. When a client hunts with me where we manage the property strictly for hogs there is a fee if you kill a hog. I think the guarantee thing is to get you in the door more than any thing. I don't guarantee any thing other than my services I have seen to many people miss. LOL I'm not being holier than thou because I have missed to.
I hate it when people say " I guarentee you'll get one here", it's the ultimate jinx for me.
