Info on lake Griffin ,
I am going to drive sown before hand and scout a couple days late July if for nothing more then just get a little familiar with the lake and the shore lines. I am about a 18 hour drive from here to there and fuel prices like they are I was hopping for a little info from anyone that been on the lake. I am really trying to keep my scouting trip to one in July .
I guess I will have to at least drag my boat down for the hunt but to scout I am just going to rent one for a day or so on the lake. I have made a couple calls and it looks like I cant find a place that rents boats that you van take out doe the night, so if anyone has info on a place that will let me rent a boat to hunt with at night that would greatly be appreciated, dragging my boat down that far can be a head ache.

with the tag and fuel i need to save a dime were ever I can .

thanks George

You'd prolly do better hooking up with somebody with an airboat or at least someone with some experience. There's plenty of guys who'd love to take you out or guide you.

thanks for thr realy skunk,
But First I have to tell yea some sort of disorder, LOL
I just cant inposs on some to take me out that I really don't know .
it just wouldn't feel comfortable. I been reading this sight every day and from reading all the stuff you guy write I have no doubt if I asked someone would take me along, this is a friendly place and that's what makes me hang around here. I don't contribute much but I read a lot.
I ant kidding I wouldn't be able to get comfortable i would feel like i was inposing.

guides I don't do , nothing wrong with guides they are a out of state guys best bet . they know the water and the area and can save you time with there knowledge.

but here is the truth first I don't have the kinds moneys for this . what I do have is free time . I hunt predators just about across this country and I am a real do it myself kinds of guy. and the most important thing is I don't have to harvest one or full my tags. it all about the hunt to me getting one is just a extra.

I am going to do my home work and get in a little scouting and have at it .

but i will take all the info and help on the lake and the gator's in it that i can get

ps
sorry, yall will find out i dont spell so good

You see lots of guys on craigslist looking for someone to take them or wanting to take someone like you. There's a lot of expense involved with equipment along with the cost of permits. My buddy was going the last few years and was doing quite well but he sold his airboat.I never got into it but I do have a 16' jon boat that would prolly work. I don't know where lake Griffin is,if it were close I wouldn't mind going ,but like I said, I don't own 1 piece of equipment. One thing you need is a bangstick. You can't use a gun to kill them when you get them to the boat.

sorry , skunk
I should have added I have done this before . I use a bow with a fishing arrow rest and muzzy gator getter arrows . no reel but I use 600 pound line and a float from a crab trap at the end of 30 yard of line .
I also have a crossbow with a red dot set up the same way but with bolts. I have found that just keeping my line wet it works well just layed out neatly on the floor of the boat. and i have a bangstick

I started hunting gator's last year on orange lake were I took 2 the first night out a 6 1/2 and a 8 footer . I have just about killed every predator in the lower states and I am telling I had more fun that one night then just about all my predator, I am hook on gators son.
I got my tag in the fist round this year and now cant send till the last round for left overs
and I plan on getting some for anywhere I can and come back down for more fun .

if I get my tags in the last drawling we will have to hook up but NO john boat for me . my center of gravity is a little big for a john boat I am almost as round as I am tall LOL i am 6'6'' 385lb and will bring the boat pal LOL
