I went back into a swampy area today that was just recently knee deep, now walkable, but pretty bad skeeters and it got me to thinking, where were the worst I'd ever seen. I'd have to say Ocracoke island N.C., how about you guys. they would swarm all over the car windows waiting for you to come out and when you swatted them they would explode someone/somethings blood all over you plus they were huge. I hear Alaska is bad, your opinions?

I have hunted in these Florida swamps since I was 4 years old. By far, the worst I have ever seen was in Everglades City. We went down there on a fishin trip with a company I worked for. They were unbearable. When it was time to walk over to the restaurant to eat, we all started walking, and ended up sprinting. The skeeter control trucks come around at least 2x a day, and multiple times during the night

I literally have never seen anything like it

The worst I've ever experienced were down in the swamps off of Card Sound Road.
Huge swarms that you could literally see flying toward you and the mosquitos were literally the size of your thumb nail.
The bites were quarter sized welts.

The worst I've ever seen were up in Alaska. They aren't that big up there, it's just that there's so many of them. I've had times where we've had 200+ bites in minutes. They will occasionally have it on the news up there to avoid an area because the skeeters have killed some caribou. I never witnessed that personally but after hearing that I wanted no part of those areas.

you know it's bad when they cover your headnet so thick you can hardly see. up in New England they had Mayflies and deer flies also. where I grew up the sand fleas and gnats at the beaches at sunset were vicious, and green heads hurt.
