Some of the members of my unit will never be forgotten. When I retired from the army I wrote my Battalion commander a letter. In brief it said that there was times that I thought what am I doing still here in the military? Mainly when we ware in 130 degree weather getting shot at. Or the time that we all laid on the floor of the tent because it was so hot and we were dieing of thurst, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel getting dimmer and dimmer. But now that I'm at home and can sit in my easy chair and look back on all of these times, there is not a moment that I would change. There is not a person in the unit that I wouldn't have stepped infront of a bullet for. To some people that might sound strange, but that is just what you do when you're an American Soldier.

Thank you and all the others in the armed forces for you service. :USMC
Bossman, thank you for your time protecting our freedoms! It takes a special person to make it a career and I have the greatest respect for those who stayed through retirement. Sometimes it seems like yesterday that I stepped off that bus at Parris Island but it was almost 49 years ago. Good and bad experiences make this a special day for all Americans whether they realize it or not.
