About 20 years ago, in my native state of Colorado, he got arrested for illegally huntig elk. He had retained the srevices of a corrupt guide. The guide had his licenses pulled by the state the year before. Segal and the guide were caught hunting in an area that required a special license and all Segal had was an over the counter bull tag.
In the state of Colorado, a hunter that retains the services of a guide is responsible for ensuring said guide is legally able to conduct the hunt. The Division of Wildlife aintains a list of licensed guides and all it takes is a phone call or web search to get the info. Segal never made the call and got pinched.
The guide went to jail and Segal was fines for illegally hunting elk.
I'm kind of curious how a guy with a record can be a deputy sheriff?
