I just had my first taste of sporting clays. And while the birds where hard to cook! the xcitement of shooting them rascals was very fun and enjoyable. Someone even coined the phrase, "its like Golf with Shotguns!"

You see I have ONLY ever shot Skeets, another tough bird to cook btw, And while it was fun to shoot them and learn thier patterns, I got so I could predict them. well its probably because they always flew in the same pattern and after lots of practice I got so I could bust them up almost each and every time they flew by.

This past Sunday I was at Tenoroc, with some friends of mine to celebrate my birthday (this tuesday btw) and we shot 50 birds. Because this was my first time, my friend told me what was going to happen and we began. Wow totally a different kind of shooting. Actually bordering on real bird hunting. IMO.

So having said all that, I am hooked, I would love to get out to Tenoroc again and shoot more birdies.
But I dont want to go by myself, so I would like to invite you, my "Online" friends to join me at Tenoroc.

Lets see if there is enough interest, and we can begin setting a date
fyi, in case you want to see th eplace online http://www.tenorocshootingsports.com

Peace
G

Tenoroc has between 10-18 stations all spread out in a field type environment. Typicaly you do ten stations, and shoot 5 birds per station, which makes up 50 birds.
It took us 3 hours to get thru, but we had 11 shooters to, and we liked to BS a lot. Again typicaly a 50 round ten stations shoot should take you about an hour and a half again depending on your group size.

Like golf figure a 10 hole course, that is 50 birds. Do the same course again for another 50 birds. Kinda like a 9 hole or 18 hole.
You shoot in the following sequence. You throw bird A your single; then you throw a report pair, Bird A goes first and upon the report of the shotgun, Bird B is launched. Your first pair. Then finaly a "True" pair both birds A and B are launched at the same time. For 5 bird per station.

Birds come from a variety of directions some come at you, other fly away, some cross way, and others overhead. There are even some rabbits that launch out at your feet along the ground.

This range is pretty nice good shade at most of the stations, and if the wind is up a nice breeze to boot. Yesterday was Ideal! a good breeze that was pretty steady for most of the day, but it did start to gust in the afternoon making the shooting that more exciting and difficult.

As I said before I usually shoot in the 20's at skeet (25 rounds) Yesterday after 50 birds, I only scored a 38, still good by the way, but much more fun and it really tested my knowledge of shooting clays. I hated when they made me go first though as I have never seen the stations before, and could not figure out where the birds were going or coming from. Our group did not allow any test launching of the birds, and everyone got to go first at each station (cept for the lady shooter we did not make her shoot first as she was the only one, and was the 11th shooter.)
