Came home today and realized Ac was not working. Checked the thermostat and it was on showing that the fan was running, but nothing was running in the unit. I changed batteries in the thermostat just in case. Climbed up in the attic to check the drip pan which was not overfilled. I cleaned out the drain pipe anyway just in case, still nothing. I don't even hear a sound coming from the unit at all. Does anyone have any suggestions before I bounce a check to a repairman?

check your contactors on the condensing unit, may have a beetle or something in it. happens alot with those, like ants getting in pressure switches on a well.

If the air handler isn't running then check the power source 1st. Check the panel and then the disonnect in the attic. Verify you have 220v 1st. If you don't have a tester then turn on the broiler in the oven if it's electric. If it heats up you have 220v in the house. The fan motor doesn't need the condensing unit to run. From what I've seen, 90% of the time the air handler isn't working it's electrical.

// This //. My home warranty company had swapped out two of them before they had to replace the compressor. Mine was doing the same thing. Good luck, with this heat, you are going to need it. I had to go a week last summer waiting on the parts to fix mine.
