So my 4 month old pup had cherry eye. Now ive read that i could get canine drops and put a hot compress on it. So i did that and it went away!
But this morning it was back and worse.
Guess i got an appointment to the vet. Now what else can i do ? Im reading operation is the only way to fix it , also reading the operation is costly and can do more damage then good.
And info or advice?
I would contact the breeder because its genetic. I had a Rottweiler pup that had it in one eye around 12weeks old and my vet wouldn't touch it and said to take her to UF vet school. That was my biggest mistake i spent the next year at UF vet school and thousands of dollars with them trying to fix it. She had it in both eyes and they tried to tie it back 3-4 times on each eye. Finally i told them where to go since the poor pup was in a stupid cone and only able to go outside when i was home watching her making sure she didn't get anything in her eyes. My dad met a old school vet that had been around forever and he said never to try to fix cause its rarely works. He ofter to remove them for free since we had already spent so much on her eyes for nothing but stress on her and my bank account. After he removed them he said to watch her eyes and make sure they dont get dry after a couple months she was back to normal and never had another problem and never had a dry eye problems. Couple years later she thought it would be cool to play with a rattle snake and lost at that game. All that to say i would find a vet that would remove them most likely the other one will come out one day so i would try to get both taken care of at the same time and it will save ya abt a grand.
Great thx.

Carlos,
I just googled "What is cherry eye?" There is a great article on that site about eye massage to relieve the issue without surgery. It was in a site called "oldtownhome.com". Maybe you can find it.

I did that yesterday. It did go away but came back twice as big. On my way to the vet now. Thanks!
