congrats. you picked a good place to start. quiting soda alone should be an easy 20+ pounds a year. push the water instead. we got a water cooler put it in a more central spot, re-fill the 5 gal btl's for 1-1.5$ with better tasting water, help the environment, from all those small H20 btl's, and your health win/win and save $

ALL "diets" fail sooner or later. nobody has perfect will power. simple small easy to live with lifestyle/health changes over extended times will last and work better.

I went from 350 +/- a third grader to a low of 259 after my last tightening and having to be on liquids only for a few days, now hovering around 265 and have hit a wall. but I am lazy don't exercise and am falling back on some bad habits of not eating frequently enough to keep the metabolism burning at peak levels. still sticking with the easy/healthier changes (that's easy), no carbonated beverages (beer/soda), not drinking 30 minutes before, during or after eating, eating MUCH slower and chewing a lot more thoroughly and leave the table before you feel full, you WILL feel full in about 15 minutes later. a tablespoon or more as tolerated of apple cider vinegar will help curb the appetite, and when you cheat and you will, try to do it as early in the day as possible as opposed to in bed before you got to sleep so you have all day to burn those bad calories. learning to cook what you like to eat and just cook it a little healthier by using better oils like olive or canola, avoiding anything white, go with whole grains and brown when possible. put your food on a smaller plate it makes you feel like your getting more, I know it sounds stupid but it works. it's those small little changes that you won't even notice or feel deprived after a while over a few years that will make a huge difference. and you won't feel like you are on a DIET, just making better choices.

Dropped a couple of more lbs, it is slowing down now though. Been hitting the gym twice a week for an hour, my pants are getting loser and the shirts are getting tighter so I guess its working.
