I live here. wife and I call it "slocala". I live across from a big thoroughbred farm. It is the coldest in winter and the hottest in the summer. I live 7-8 minutes from I-75 to the west. I like it except too hard to get to salt water fishing-time wise. Other than that, love it. A lot of over 55 housing and other types also. A lot slower pace than say Tampa, Orlando etc. I have quit buying but I rent a 3-2 2200sq. ft for $800 per month. water included. It's all here just depends what u want.

Ocala is Awesome just depends on where you want to be in the area. Moss Bluff is a nice area on the south end, lots of old campsites there that folks have turned their cabins into retirement homes, and lots of em that still come up and camp for hunting season. salt springs is a nice little area on the north side. there are also some nice spots along sr19 and close to lake george. If i could live in the Ocala area i would. Palatka is close to the forest as well just takes a few minutes to get to hunting grounds. Salt water will be a bit of a ride but you can pick the coast you want because they are about the same distance away.

Well, We will be there at the end of July. We made a trip to see family a few weeks ago and liked the area they were in. Had to turn off of 40 onto a dirt road for about 5 miles to get to them. Think I'm read for some country living.
