I haven't been in touch with them for a couple of years but I can't say enough good things about dixieslugs.com. their products are for SERIOUS stopping effect & they did do an occasional run of #1's. They are a small Fl based co from old town & the owner & his wife JC Gates are extremely helpful & will call you if needed to help you get what you want/need.
Not sure if you know or not, but Dixie Slugs was shut down for quite a while due to health issues. I believe they started production back up the first of the year. Those shells I got from you shoot great, but they are a shoulder breaker. Even worse than my turkey loads. I put all 3 pellets in a beer box at 50 yards (that was after cutting my barrel)
I have never seen #1 in 3.5" shells. It may exist somewhere by an obscure manufacturer, but I have never seen it produced. Only thing in 3.5" is #00 and #4 buck (that I have seen).
Having said that, the 3" #1's (winchester gray box) is what me and several friends shoot. They are lights out out of an 870
Federal use to make 3 1/2" 1 bucks but I had heard that they stopped making it. I dropped 3 deer at over 100 yards with them. (believe it or not) I just haven't used my shotgun for deer hunting in a couple of years. Wanted to do some massive hog killing. The A Bolt is just to slow for that. :chain
:saluting
DIXIE TRI-BALLS a 3 1/2" shell throwing 3 60+ caliber hard cast balls totaling app 2 oz's, does produce some big recoil & is why I can't use them right now. NOT FOR kids/women/or light wt types. 1-2 in the field, a drt & I doubt it would bother you for long. I just found out they had closed for a time, & knew JC was Ill. Hopefully he is still with us as he was a real class act & a first rate gentlemen.

Mr. Nacho and Allen are right on, those Dixie Tri-Balls is what I would use for hogs if considering buck shot. I only shot one of the packs (5 in a pack) , Mr. Nacho gave me two packs to try out... WWWWOOOOOOO they will knock your filings loose, but stay together out to 100 yards. They would devastate a deer and likely do a number on a hog if hit in the proper spot.
Ok I've been looking for some 3 1/2" 1 buckshot I haven't hunted with my shotgun very much lately but for the past few years I've bought 00 buckshot. But I know that my shotgun patterns 1 buck shot very well and I have been looking for some but not having much luck finding any. does anyone have any leads as to where I can find some.
Any luck yet? I'm looking for some in 3".
