Merry Christmas fellas.
About the only gift I got was a beer-making kit from my daughter. It's a "True Brew", consists of 2 plastic buckets, a siphon, some tubing, a long stirring spoon, some cleaning supplies and bottle capper. I don't drink alcohol a lot or on a regular basis like I did back in the day, but I do enjoy a good brew now and then. I can probably make one batch and if it's any good I'll be set for the year!
I did wind up with a "new to me" rifle from a lady I did some computer work for last week. It's a Remington 710 in .270 with the Bushnell scope they came with, and her husband had painted the stock camo. Not a rifle I would have normally purchased, although I have read that they aren't as bad as many people make them out to be, especially the ones made with the steel receivers instead of the first gen polymer ones. She said he never got to hunt with it, might have shot a few rounds at the range, but he then had both knees replaced and a never got to where he could walk well enough. Her husband died last year and her sons and grandsons all live up north and don't care to hunt. She is selling her big house and moving to a smaller place, and wanted to get rid of some stuff, so she offered me the rifle instead of the $100 I was charging. I have been fixing her computers and keeping her ebay business running for about 6 years, so she probably would have given me the rifle and paid me the fee, but I didn't want to take advantage. I have to find out if the county has opened Knights Trail range again, or if I'll have to run out to the Manatee Gun Club to try it out.
