Service Master owned them and Terminix when I was there. They sold after I left, so I can't tell you about upper management now. I know the benefits were good. Insurance, stock, 401k, vacation, etc. The one by you may not even be corporate owned, as a lot of them around smaller towns are franchised.
A lot of those places will beat you to death though. You need to see what kind of hours you will be doing, and how the pay works. I know a lot of PC/lawn companies work on a draw system (you get a guaranteed base salary plus incentives(kinda hard to explain)). Or you may be hourly, I just don't know how that particular one runs.

Basically what is going to happen (if it is like Terminix), at the start of the month they will hand you a "service analysis". It has all your customers that are due for that month, and it is up to get on the phone and schedule them, and get them all done before the month is over. If you don't get them all done, whether they cancel or want to skip that service, or whatever reason, that counts against your quality index at the end of the month, which reflects how much incentive pay you get.(I know it sounds confusing). Wehn doing your schedule, you need to divide your # of customers by 20 working days. That is a MINIMUM number you need to service on a daily basis to get done on the end of the month. Now you need to figure in rain days, equipment failures, ar the truck being down, etc. You have to plan in extra days for those reasons. Plus the earlier in the month you get done the more hunting days you have :rockon The other thing that will kill you is call backs. When Mrs Jones comes home from work, her lawn is the first thing she sees. If there are brown spots, she will call you, and you have to schedule a reservice into your already full schedule

As far as the work goes, its not really that hard. You will have a ton to learn about the different diseases and insects that affect lawns and shrubs. I will tell you though, pulling hose around houses will whip your ass. Make sure you get an electric hose reel :rolleyes You will appreciate it when you have to manually roll up 300' a few times a day. They do have a good training program though
