just need to vent alittle bit. School open houses were today. In hillsborough cnty. I guess i'm very disappointed in the direction our kids are being taught. Talking to the geography teacher today. My son (6th grade) will learn about 6 weeks of geography, 6 weeks of social studies, 6 weeks of american history. my step-son that graduated H.S. 2 years ago, joined the Army, and is in a country he can't find on a map. (Afganistan). never learned it. even in 6th gr and High School the kids never get in depth about the Constitution and what rights we have. It's like they (the government) doesn't want the younger generations to know what their rights are. After my generation is too old to stand up and say "enough is enough" who is gonna do it?? I don't think there is enough people doing now. it just burns my azz. i've even given up listening to talk radio, blood pressure would get to high. I can see the ground work being laid for a very dramatic change to our way of life. And the blindness and lack of enthusiasm to give a crap, is very scary. Whether you agree or not, is fine we HAVE THE RIGHT to disagree. Just needed to vent. :rockon: :rockon:
as far as schooling goes, I blame alot of it on that darn FCAT test. The schools concentrate on teaching what is on that test, because it effects their money for the next year. I really think the kids are missing out on alut of learning because of it. example: About 4 years ago, step son, who was 16 and in HS, sees me watching the movie MIDWAY. asks me who invaded us and where?? and then asked me "who won?". I asked him, and was told he never got that far in American History. Middle School and High School he only had 1 semester of American History.
