My neighbor thwarted a burglary last night.
Long story short, he went outside late (11ish) to get a dog leash out of his sons truck to walk the dogs before he went to bed. He had his surefire light and a carry piece as he does every night when he does this. When he started to make the corner to walk to his sons truck, 2 males came walking out.
(Where the boy parks is between his house and my hedges, so it's very dark. It is also about 25' from my moms bedroom window).
He put the surefire in one of the kids face ( I say kid, he said they were probably 17-18 years old and pretty big). When he did, the other one took off running to the entrance to the street. He started asking the dude the basic questions and it was obvious he was lying and up to no good. Oh, we were looking for a friend of ours, blah blah blah... The kid started walking towards him like he was going to jump him and he drew his gun. The kid hit the brakes and flanked him to get to the street. When the kid got in front of him he walked fast to the entrance. My neighbor could see the other dude standing across the street.
By this time they started running and he was on the phone with 911. Here is the funny part....the dispatcher asked him if he was following them, he said yes.....the dispatcher said, "good, keep a safe distance and continue to follow them to try and see where they go"....

Anyway they lost him and the cops came, looked around and didn't find anything. Hopefully it was just some random punks looking for some smash and grabs or open car doors.

Oh one other funny...when he drew his gun, the kid stuck his hands up and said "please don't shoot". My neighbor told him, "lucky you weren't trying to break in next door. That crazy " MFer would have shot your ass by now".....

BTW, I slept thru the whole ordeal...

Good for your neighbor. It is nice to have people like that around. Glad nothing bad came of it. Too bad he couldn't have held he one guy til the man arrived.
