Need someone to split the gas?

Right now, the plan is I will be splitting gas with a guy I've been doing some sidework for and we are going to stop in Kentucky (he has a friend with 40-50 acres), hunt for a few days, then go up to my stepmother's place to try and knock down a monster 10pt that will be a 5.5 year old deer this year....I can't even fathom how much mass he will have. Those deer in the pictures I posted are 3.5 year old deer, the one with more mass, maybe 4.5. As Micah said....bigass deer up there. A big buck will field dress between 200-250 lbs sometimes.

If that plan doesn't work out, I will definitely be looking for someone else to partner else with to run up there. It's about 17-18 hrs of driving, but we'll be staying with my family, hunting ten minutes from the house, and I have a buddy with a walk-in cooler within a couple miles to hang our deer....not that you need a cooler during gun season in Indiana....

Indiana is a shotgun/blackpowder only state, but they recently made provisions that you can shoot a rifle chambered in a handgun cartridge, i.e. .357, .44 mag, etc.

I will probably be going up after Finals week for Muzzleloader season. It starts Dec 4 and runs until the 19th, with late Archery running all the way until Jan 2. Firearms season is November 13-28, so school might wreck that for me....though M/L season is nicer, as there is snow on the ground, the deer are moving, and blood trailing and still hunting is cake! Those deer just pop out against the white snow.

Not sayin gas is gonna be cheap, but how much does Indy hit you up for a non-res permit?

its been 10 years since i hunted there, cant remember how much it was. the room and board is free, so the expense of the license is worth whatever it costs. he has lots of family up there as do i. i am gonna try to get there in november, and ohio to my cousins, if it works out. i will have plenty of vacation time, in november i get another 3 weeks.

Lucky you. Last time I bought a PA license, it was over $140 for 2 weeks of hunting, with only 1 buck or doe allowed unless you happen to have the luck to get a bonus doe tag. Well, something's changed. I know they added a 3pt on one side rule for Potter county, but I didn't know that they lowered the fee. Looks like it's down to $101 now. Guess the antler restrictions chased off a lot of out of state folk.
