My Uncle Richard died this past Monday up in Spring Hill. He'd had lung cancer and been fighting it for years. He was 71. He was married to my mom's younger sister. Never spent much time with him, but I know he loved the outdoors and he and my dad used to fish and hunt together some back many years ago.

So I'll drive up for the viewing/funeral service in Spring Hill tomorrow night, give my respects, see family members I ain't seen since my mom died about 9 years ago (some it's been even longer), promise to keep in touch, even though I know we probably won't. For some reason my mom's side of the family just ain't as close as my dad's side.

Thinking about it now, it looks like my family is about to enter one of those periods where groups of relatives start reaching a certain age, and there seems to be a funeral every few months. Hope I'm wrong, but then again it's part of that cycle of life. Short of the rapture, there ain't none of us getting out of here alive! :angel

My FIL died July 12th. This is the 1st death of any one I was close to in our family. It has been an emotional battle with the should of's, could of's, and would of's. I sure miss the old buzzard.
Sorry for your loss.

I know the feeling Gary. Prior to 2006, I had attended one funeral in my life. I then attended 8 in a single year
Buried my dad and wifes grandmother in a span of 2 days. Seems like every year since then its 2-3 a year now, and I am usually a paul bearer in at least one. Had an uncle die a couple months back in GA, and couldn't make that funeral
Sucks
