gonna go and :skeet tomorrow. knights trail around 9 am. gonna break out the .410 and 12 guage. anyone in the area that wants to go, lemme know.
had fun shooting clays this morning. as nacho pointed out in another post, trap and skeet seems to be a sport that more old timers take part in, and dont mind sharing some knowledge. i was by far the youngest shooter today. there was some registered shooters and some of us shooting on the practice range. i think the youngest person i shot with was 78, the oldest 82. i shot a few rounds of trap and one round of 5 stand. my winchester has a short barrel and not really suited for trap, but i had a good time with it. i did much better with it on the 5 stand than trap.
they have a sporting clay shoot coming up to benefit the united way, its on august 14th. if anyone is interested in heading out, let me know, im down to go if we can get some participants. i think you can have up to 4 people on a team. you can get the details at sarasotagunclub.com. i think its $62, and that includes lunch, you provide your own ammo.
I shot a few rounds of hand-thrown clays over the weekend. Had an absolute blast. Especially since we limited it to a single shot per clay. I went 29 for 30, and that was switching between 12 ga #4s, 7 1/2s, 8s and 20ga 7 1/2s.
try fastening a golf club or broom stick to your hand thrower, you can really up the speed on it, makes it a lot harder. you can really put some heat on them.
My wife's uncle was slinging them pretty fast. I think I would've missed a couple of them if it weren't for using #4s on a couple shots.
