I've had an old utitlity trailer my Dad made about 15 years ago sitting in my yard for the last couple of years. It needs a lot of work to be useful again (new tires, new lights, new wood on floors and sides), I decided to get rid of it, so I put an ad on Craigslist and listed it for $50. Somw guy emails me says he wants it. I call him and he asks if I'll take $25 for it if he comes tonight to get it. I figured what the heck, get rid of the eyesore.
My son and I spent an hour or so geting the tires aired up, moving it out front so he could see it, removing all the dead leaves, pine straw, limbs and stuff that had accumulated over the years. So the guy drives up from Venice, with a flatbed trailer to carry it back on. He's got a brand new Toyota extended cab 4x4, pulling what looks like a brand new dual axle 6 X 18' trailer. He looks over my trailer and says,"I only have $20, will you take that?".
I said ,"No, the deal was $25, if you need an ATM I'll tell where you can find one." I really wanted to tell him to kiss my big ol' butt, but managed to stay peacable. I mean, come on, we agreed on $25 on the phone, you drove all the way from Venice, then try to squeeze me for another $5?
He just said again,"All I have is $20." So I told him "Have a nice ride back to Venice. I've got 10 emails since yours with folks wanting it. I'm sure someone will show up with the right amount!".
It ain't about the $5, but I'd rather give it to someone than have some idiot take me for a fool.
So I guess $15.00 is out of the question. 😆
