"Officer Joshua Allison responded to a call regarding a vehicle that was located in the
Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. A vehicle records check provided a
telephone number for the registered owner. After a telephone call was made, it was
determined that the individual had been missing for approximately two weeks and the
Hernando County Sheriff’s Office had initiated a missing persons investigation. Near
the vehicle, a handgun case was observed. A search of the area was conducted by
personnel from FWC and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, utilizing K-9 units, but
the missing individual could not be located. Officer Allison assisted the Sheriff’s Office
with entering the vehicle, where a suicide note was found. Officers from Pasco and
Hernando Counties as well as K-9 and aviation units broadened their search of the area
and located the subject’s body approximately ½ mile from his vehicle."
