What is up with these people forging cards? They hit my business account 2x last year. My mom has got hit twice this year already. SOmehow they got her info and opened up a sears charge card in N Georgia. She hasn't been to a sears in 30 years. We had to have everything of hers changed

The law treats it as a victimless crime since banks refund your money. Someone got my card number and bought stuff at a Publix down in south florida. I called to make a report and the officer I spoke to said "Well there are a number of Publix's down here. I don't know which one to start looking at." What she didn't know is that I already figured out which store they used my card at and I had the address. I told them this information and she says to me "Wow, how'd you get that?" I said there's a thing called Google. You should try it.
She didn't like that too much, but they didn't care. She said she'd have a detective call me back. When he called, he said since the bank will refund you, they are not going to investigate.

My bank told me the biggest thing is gas stations where you slide your card in at the pump. They make a plastic mold that goes over the unit. An exact fit. And it allows you to get gas but it sends your info wirelessly to a persons cell phone thats waiting near by.

Unless you want to use cash, one way around this is to grab the portion that you slide your card in and shake it. You want to see if anything comes loose. It is habit for me when I use my card for gas now.
