Does anyone have a butt plate for a Winchester 37, 12 ga. that would be for sale or trade? Treefarmer
Check Numritch Gun Parts Corp on-line, they should have one.
Thanks M-12, there's also a site GunGrip.com that has them. Midway has them back ordered. Just thought there might be a "real" one collecting dust in someone's junk box. :shifty Treefarmer
No problem. Is your Model 37 a "Red Letter"? What gauge is it? "Red Letter" meaning it has Red Lettering on the bottom of the receiver on the bottom of the barrel assembly infront of the trigger where it says "Winchester" (East to West), the Winchester stamping is colored Red if it's a Red Letter, or in the older ones "used to be colored red". Those are the collectable model 37's.
This shotgun belongs to a friend, it was his grandfathers and somebody (probably Grandpa) had cobbled up the threads in both the frame where the long bolt attaches through the stock and the bolt on the forend that held that mechanism together. It is a 12 ga. and not a red label. Ended up retapping the holes with SAE threads to redo what had been cross threaded probably by trying a course threaed repacement bolts instead the proper bolts or screws. Also wood around the forend screw had been wallowed out enough that removing the forend properly was impossible, here I put some epoxy to use, by removing enough wood on the under side to build up and re drill the hole through the epoxy block. He doesn't intend to shoot the old girl but hang it as a display in his "man cave". Treefarmer
