that's the stamp, but the wood is looking kinda birchy. without much info I'd GUESS it's pretty close to the cut off time. what are the first 2 letters? of the ser #?, and does it have a safety?

Crock, your stamp looks more like a JR. That stands for John Remington. You need to get rid of that thing before someone gets hurt. I'll take one for the team and take it off your hands... I wouldn't want anything to happen to the forum you know! Just lookin out...

It does have a safety and the first numbers are 910

jm= John Marlin, JR= john remington. looks like you got a remlin, not that ALL of them are bad, just some. a whole run came out with front sights bent bad to one side and they let them go figuring nobody would notice, and if they did it was better P.R. then a recall. you are not "absolutely" doing bad by buying a remlin, but it's possible. for re-sale value on spec next to assault rifles, pre-rem marlins, winchester levers, old S&W and colt revolvers and Belgin Brownings are money in the bank. put them in a safe for 10 years or less and double your money.
