Hey guys, Im planning to purchase a shotgun but need your opinions

I saw couple options from local wally and came down to three options.

1) Maverick 88 (180 dollars)

2) 870 Wingmaster (I think..? one with wooden stock and grip) (225 dollars)

3) Weatherby PA-08 (324 dollars)

Im gonna be using it for skeet shooting, hunting for birds like ducks, and maybe occasionally for turkey.

which one would you choose to buy it?

Out of the coices listed the 870 would be hands down your best bet given options and barrels available for the Remington. You could buy 2-3 barrels for it and hunt everything from small game, to deer/hog, turkey and water fowl/migratory birds all with one gun.

As for Skeet a semiauto or Over/Under shotgun are the preferred shotguns, but a pump would work fine. Back in the day, prior to 1970 many a Winchester Model 12 Pump shotguns were shot and won skeet shooting events all the way from the local shoots to the national competitions.

I have three 870's and a whole bunch of Model 12's. IMHO, the best two pump shotguns ever made....

thank you for your opinion sir.

I heard lot of good things a bout remington 870. But at the same time, I heard some bad reputation about corrosion. Is it that bad??? or its not that bigga deal??

We never had an issue with corrosion on an 870 or any other firearm, although we always CLEAN and wipe down our firearms with oil after use. My family has had 870's since they began production in the early 1950's.

If you want something you don't need to clean or wipre down and can take it swimming in salt water, the only one I'd recommend is a Beretta Extrema II or a Glock pistol and even then it will still corrode and rust some.

I am a Remington fan, so my vote would be for an 870 Super mag. You can shoot 2.75", 3". or 3.5" shells. many barrels and choke tube options. I have 5 remington pump actions, plus a Remington 1100

Plus you can get a scope bracket for not much money and put a scope on it. As far as corrosion...no different than any other gun. You gotta take care of them at the end of the day/hunt. Ive used mine for a gun, club, boat paddle, etc...

Ironiocally, I was just in wal mart for something else. The Rem 870 Supermag was $355 (full camo dipped), and the Mossberg 835 was $379
