being a little "afraid" of hogs, or at LEAST have some respect for their ability to inflict some serious damage would not be a bad thing imo esp for less experienced hunters of hogs, like me. seems like a smart idea. no they are not "bison" but the #'s of hog dogs being cut or killed would indicate to me that they can be dangerous and something to be taken seriously. I don't think anyone has a beef with the 223 caliber itself, just in how/where and by who it's used.

Poke a hole in a hogs heart and he'll die,no matter the caliber. I personally like a bullet with some shock like my .358, or a shotgun slug. What is a real wild hog in Fl? What is a feral farm land hog? All wild hogs in Fl are feral.

One that lives, scavanges and eats in the woods, natural unplanted food sources without agricultural supplement, i.e. cattle feed, produce, rice fields, ect.... They all are Feral, but most aren't having to work for a living to eat around a large farming community/areas. Two different animals, a piney woods rooter and a feral farm land hog.

So a deer that eats farm crops is not a wild animal?

that was a different thread. that was a simple question of what is the best bullet selection for hunting hogs with a .223, not about opinions on any caliber and ANY hunting situation, it was a question about .223's. this is simply a thread about, check out my new gun and a statement of what size bullet he will be using for shooting hogs. apparently he already has or has on good experiences that a 62 gr fed fusion is adequate for his abilities, in this thread. two different threads, two different topics. i could understand if the question was asked about what is the best caliber, but caliber has already been established. as in to firearms as you are, i am surprised to see that you dont encourage more practice with the gun/guns of choice instead of telling people that the choice isn't good enough. not everyone has the arsenal you have nor can they afford it, some people only have an AR to start out with. it is what it is.
