A gun aint going anywhere in a good retention holster. You could hang me upside down by my ankles with either my IWB or my OWB and my gun won't move
Same here. I gotta crossbreed holster it holds my handgun perfectly
OMG HOSS if it weren't so dangerous (somebody might actualy believe it) it might be funny. about the only part I believe is Doc 66 is old cuz he must have Alzheimers. "no ammo made specificaly for semi auto's" how about the 45acp? guess what the A in acp stands for? or how about the 9mm luger? they have both been around a while. and I suppose no members that own a semi have ever had a ftf or fte? I see them just about every time I go to the range. the # of times I've seen people pull the trigger on a revolver and it not go bang, ZERO. any mechanical device can fail. yes revolvers have lots of openings to let in dust and pocket lint, but they keep on going. in 1994ish my landlord was a nypd seargeant and he carried a 38 snubbie with, my hand to God, green mold on the trigger. Christmas day they get a call for a man with a gun, (later to find out it was an attempt at suicide by police) the sarge and 3 rookies with glock 9mm's roll up. the man kicks open his ground floor door steps out on the sidewalk and says "I have a gun and am going to kill you mf"rs" and pulls out a cell phone and points it at them. the sarge was in front, fired once hitting the guy center mass, meanwhile the rookies, all behind him and spread out, all open fire and empty their mags with no hits and 1 broken 2nd story window. 1 rookie broke his wrist doing a Starsky and Hutch dive over the hood of a car seeking cover. now retired he says that was his scariest day on the job. scared of getting shot in the back from friendly fire. that gun was used 2 more times with good effect. once the grip to a perps ear knocked him cold.
"good holster", "better retention" my drop happened with a 3" sp101 in a open top uncle mikes right rear pocket carry. sitting in a restauraunt booth the cushion must have pushed it up and out a bit and when I stood up, it fell out. lesson learned, don't put a 300+$ gun in a 10$ holster, and check it every so often. sorry to monopolize the thread, that's it I swear.
JYour correct about the .45acp, but I think he was referring to the improvements made because of semi auto, or at least thats how I read it.
I know semi autos can jam, but with quality ammo, quality guns, proper maintainence, and proper technique they should virtually never fail.
I put about 300 rounds through my EDC a month. It is a Springfield XD9. I have been putting 300 rounds a month through it for the past two years since I bought it. It I haven't gotten a FTE or FTF once. That's like what... 14,400 rounds and zero failures. Sure I see occasionally a guy on the range clearing out a jam. A lot of times I notice his grip is very poor. If the grip isn't bad, I will ask him what kind of gun is that (a few minutes after the embarassment of clearing the jam and the range is cold.). Usually I get a response like Taurus. Dont hate me Taurus owners, it's just a common problem I have encountered a lot. Lastly I look for the casings... Steel is bad mmmkay
Finally if it's not the grip and not the gun and it's not the ammo... I.... Well I haven't found a case when at least one didn't apply... But if I do I will chalk it up to poor maintainence.
Maybe I am highly biased though because I have owned some really nice pistols.
