ruger m77 .270 enough said..30-06 in my opinion is inaccurate

From what I remember, you can reload some heavier caliber in the 30-06 that you cannot in the .270.

.

Correct. You can load from a 55gr saboted varmit load all the way to a 220gr bullet in the -06

i can touch shots with no problem with the .270 but with the 30-06 i cant even come close same thing with my old man

Sounds like you've found ammo that your 270 likes. Keep looking at different brands, bullet weights and bullet types and I'd bet your '06 will touch shots too.

Dads gun could have some copper fouling in the rifling or a scratch near the muzzle that would dramatically affect accuracy. a simple electrolysis bore cleaning or re-crowning could cure the potential problem easy. or possibly your gun is bedded better or has a better trigger. it could be a lot of things but it's definitely Not the caliber. an electrolysis cleaning would be a great fathers day present and not cost too much. a good bore cleaning and inspection with a bore scope would tell you, or maybe he just hasn't found the right ammo yet.
