That is awesome. I would love to hear some tips on how to preserve that.

I skinned it, spread it flat (separated the wings and put aside) and cut off anything I thought I didn't need. Picked all the fat and meat off the body and tail that I could. I picked out everything I could between the tail quills. I worked borax all over with my fingers using it as an abrasive and it absorbed more of the fine fat, and discarded that borax. I had seen that I can clean the feathers with paint thinner, rubbing alcohol or dish detergent, but the bird was at this point pretty clean. I laid it flat feathers down in the right shape and put a nice layer of borax over it, rubbing it between the tail quills and such. The wings (from elbow down) also got picked clean of fat and meat. I could have removed the two long bones but wanted the support in the finished product. I stretched the wings out to shape and put weighted items here and there to hold the shape. Packed borax all over any skin or bone areas on the wings. After drying more then a month in the back room (checked a few times and touched up the borax) I wired it to a 18"x18" thin board adjusted it and up it went. I have never done a bird and improvised from internet info.
