Unless you live in a newer house, it probably has wooded wall studs. Metal studding has only become popular in the last few years of construction
The reason metal studs started being used a lot is because wood became a lot more $$$. Your load bearing walls will most likely wood. structial metal studs do cost a lot more and hangers don't like hanging rock on them. also strapping and clipping changes and heavy ga. #10s & 12s mostly. also stiffner channels
I don't think i will ever have that problem again takes allot to make the wall and that's not antler albino ? or nice fish. So for hanging if its heavy make sure your hanger is over the weight. I used 4 hangers for my cat and years latter i noticed one was pulling so overkill is acceptable.
