Anyone planning on hunting Upper Hillsborough this weekend? I'll be chasing the hogs Saturday afternoon and squirrels Sunday morning. If you are around and see a black Chevy Colorado park next to a Flagstaff folding camper feel free to stop by and say hello.
any luck with the hogs up there?? haven't been there yet.
Ive thought about applying for permits when i lived back in pinellas but never did.
been dying to get up to that wma.. thats the closest one to me.. and never been there.. they just had their bow week for deer. Still dont understand this.
Legal To Take:
"Deer with at least one antler having 3 or more points (each
point 1-inch or more in length), antlerless deer (which includes does
and bucks with antlers less than 5 inches in length"
Kinda confusing.
I drove by the check station a couple of weeks ago (archery), but didn't see the count. I went there last year every weekend during small game and there were probably 7-9 hogs taken every single weekend while I was there (Sat PM to Sun AM). I didn't kill any, but was close to a couple of them, which at least make my trips enjoyable. Besides the hogs, I came across some turkeys, quail and rabbits and got a couple of tree rats. Best thing is that it is not crowded and I don't think they ever issue the 150 daily permits.
They have the 3 point rule there. During archery, you can take does and bucks with at least 3 points on one side. If the buck is, let say, a 2 X 2, it is not a legal buck. That is what the guy at the check station told me last year. I think this is also the rule for Arbuckle.
