LOL. He's a good guy. Started off as a kid and daddy told him to sell some fruit and now he's got an all CASH business going. There ain't a tourist that goes to Everglades National Park that don't spend some dough in there. But his $6 milk shakes are great.
My father and I have run a summer/fall stand here since 1975 and never had a problem with selling any goods but state laws differ so much.We grow some of the best sweet corn in the country and with dads gourd seed business he is well known through out also. Its just one of those things that I have grown up doing and thought it could be a help as tight times for all here.Great grandma had her produce stand in Palatka when it was a 1 horse town she sold all types of canned goods from fruit to fish and as a kid I got to help and learn. It's like in my blood, lol, to do it and I think it tastes good!
lol and spiders everywhere!
I just realized I never talked to Robert about the canning stuff. I'll try to head over there this weekend LH.
I forgot to post up what I found out from Robert. He said it was actually pretty easy. You do need to have a certified kitchen to use for one. You also need a nutritionist to test and provide the nutritional content for the labels. He used to make it in his moms kitchen years ago but she was murdered in '92 and has used different places since then. He now has some of it done in 3 different places. Texas, Georgia and central Florida. It sounded easy but then he already has all the licenses to sell food products at an established business. He suggested finding some local products when you get settled and find the canners there to start small and get going. Let us know if you get to give it a try when you get down. :toast
