My buddy and I have got the Three Lakes hunt coming up and don't know a thing about it. Anyone ever hunt there that can give me a heads up on the place? We won't have a chance to scout until the day before and don't want to waste any of the little bit of time we have. Are the roads ok for 2 wheel drive? Any areas better than others (not looking for anyone's honey hole)? Any decent hotels close by or should we tote the camper? I'll be looking it up on google earth today but any general info would be a big help. Thanks guys. Doug
Might be someplace to stay in Keanansville. The areas closest to the Turnpike seem to have lots of game. And with the weather being so dry lately, you shouldn't have any issues if you don't run into too much sugar sand.
got a quota for there in Nov. probably be in georgia though. have turkey hunted out there alot. good luck
I hunt there every year and there is a lot to it. Seen some guy pull out 2 bucks last year from the same spot. Personally I will probably be sitting out on a hill next to the lake depending on how dry it is. Depending on what side of the you go to there is a field of bahia grass that you can see cows and such on and around. That would probably be a good spot. I sat there last year and had a few does right up under the tree I was sitting in until they winded me. I'll get you directions to the bahia field and the hill that's on the lake. We should have a meet up there sometime for some quail or dove hunting. There are tons of them out there around small game season.
Alright I believe the bahia field is up on the far north part of road 1 if you follow the road 1 by the turn pike it should lead you right to it. Can't be sure as to where the hill is with the map but if you enter were the camp site is off of 523 and go back it should be down the first road on your right. Follow it back and you should get to the designated parking zone. From the parking zone head right of the chain that blocks you from driving further back. Follow the road back and it should take you to the left and you will end up on the lake. If the lake is low you should be able to walk out and look to your left and you will see a fairly tall hill. Good place to get up on and sit through out the day. I've been told by several people that deer with get up mid day and walk down to the lake to drink and this is where the guy who shot the two bucks last year said he was at.
