Been hunting with a bow since I was 14 and it was a Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve, but I am new to hunting in Florida and could use a little help if y'all are so inclined.
In my home state of Pa. rattling and calling deer is a big thing but I find little info about it here in Fla. Is it effective and what do the experts recommend as far as the various techniques are concerned.
Appreciate any help, sure will make my first year hunting Fla. more interesting.

Thanks,

Bumper :colors

Oh my gosh.
First off - please, please, please do not try and compare the hunting down here with PA. 2 totally different environments. Being a native Floridian and an annual traveler to PA myself I can vouch for it. Florida is a great place to hunt with our long seasons - get ready to sweat - the rut varies throughout the state. I've only met a few people who had any luck rattling in a buck here and it was mostly on private land with only a few people having access, large deer population, etc... I'm sure others can chime in as well. Welcome!

Tenderfoot, thanks for the reply. Thats exactly what I was trying not to do and why I asked about the rattling methods I'm sure the comparison between Fla and Pa is like apples and oranges. I'm not sure if its even worthwhile trying the rattling or not in Fla and would rather not wast my time with methods that have little chance of success.

Sweating is good, sure better than freezing. :toast What you mentioned about large herds is on the money, buck to doe ratio always has a lot to do with whether rattling works and thats something else I have to study up on relating to Fl.
Looking forward to trying my luck though. :archer

Good hunting and be safe out there,

Bumper
