I joined this forum few weeks ago looking for some info on south Florida hunting. i did not hunt for quiet a few years and decided that was time to do it again. i consider my self more an upland hunter but for some reason Florida don't really offer that opportunities that i had up north.
I discovered the J.W. corbett area and starting hunting there, this was my 5th time since the opening season, i didn't see much at corbet other than two small does on the main road and a bunch of buggies and dogs. i was king of frustrated with the hunting there since the buggies and dogs put a lot of pressure on the game, i cas at the woods 5am and the dogs and buggies were running allready, even at the still hunt areas were they are not supposed to be.. but well that is hunting and i guess you need to deal with that.
to make long story short i was thanks giving day hunting and on my way out to the car to have breakfast around the main canal and it was there... looking at me still, about 50 yds. funny part it did not move at all it looked really tired and breathing fast, probably was being chased by dog and buggies across the canal.... aimed my trusty rem 870 26" barrel winchester x slug for a shoulder shot and bammmm. deer down. to make my day and my first florida deer. he was really skinny but weighted 95 pounds at the north entrance scale. and according to the rangers this will make the deer number 11th on the season.... now i need a hog.
Nice job Carlos! :saluting

It's agreat way to start off the Thanksgiving Day.
BTW. Is Corbett a shotgun only area and what's going on in that last pic?
