She came home last weekend, finally. She was doing better than we had seen her in years, actually. Then she got a stomach bacteria called c.diff(for short) and it has about killed her. That is some nasty stuff, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy
C-diff, one of those institutional bugs that spread like wildfire. the kind of smell you will never forget and can diagnose without entering the pt's room or doing lab tests. it's spread by bad technique and poor handwashing, not all spread by staff, pt's spread it to each other also.
