Little doe. Down

Well this is one weird one for the books. Me and my son were having a slow 4 days. All we seen were turkeys and button bucks ( cant shoot button bucks on my lease) now its doe week and all we kept seeing was button bucks.

So i decided to go sit on the food plot. I never hunt it cause the deer really haven't found it yet and theres more bears there then in yellowstone.

So its about 20 mins before dark so i do the usual farewell day piss off the side of the tree stand. And my son says " dad did you hear that?" Im like " yep the sound me rocking a piss off the tree stand" lol. (Actually it was the deer he heard) So i sit down and he says " look dad deer in food plot" so i barely see it but throw the 30.06 up and glass the plot. I still couldn't see it. So he's like hurry dad its getting farther away, still cant see it, then there it was 75 yards away.... Cracked off a shot. Devin said, dad you definitely hit him cause his leg jumped. I heard it run away from me then back towards me but like 5 pine rows over ( the thickest pine rows possible like usual.) so we get down and with the last bit of light i start to look for blood, as im doing that i hear what sounds like the deer getting up, then falling, getting up then falling.

So now its pitch dark and i cant find no blood. So i pull my truck onto the food plot with high beams on. Still no blood. So im scratching my head. Then i see a pile of crap. Like digested stomach crap and clumps of white hair. So after a half hour of tracking stomach digested food we find 1 drop of blood, then more crap then i see where the deer entered the thick brush. So we track what looks like diarrhea for 10 yards then we come across the deers whole stomach pouch . Then guts and blood everywhere. After she lost her guts she still ran 10 yards. REALLY!!! Couldn't believe it. Found her bout 25 yards from the edge of the plot. When i shot she jumped and i hit her low and it blew out her stomach. Core locs . No joke,

Me and devin dragged her back ( no guts so that was weird). Darn thing barely made it to 100 lbs. little doe. Felt bad but it was from 70 yards away and it looked bigger. Plus its doe week and i didn't kill anything since friday so hey, its sausage in the freezer. And from what the processor said, there a lot of small does coming in this season smaller then mine.

Just finished the last of my deer sausage last night too!
