I'm not sure if it has as much to do with the moon as it does the last two years being record kill years and the heat. It seems every WMA I've been to this season has started off slow.
Well I pulled all my stuff out of Arbuckle today after not seeing anything AGAIN!!! The first couple of times I hunted it I wsa in the deer, now I can't see one to save my life!!! 🙁 I think I am going to go fishing for the next couple of weeks, the specks are biting pretty good in the lake by my house!!
I will take up the bow again in two weeks for my Green Swamp West hunt!!! :gangsta :gangsta
Dont let public land discourage you man. I got frustrated last year and ended up shooting a baby pig cause i was just so fed up with all the money i spend in gas and camping and so on.
Hunting is about getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Its not about killing anything its about hunting. Keep going you will slay them soon Arbuckle is loaded with game. Dont give up.. keep at it.

Oh, I am not discouraged at all!!! This has started out as the my best year ever.....Arbuckle is closing on Friday and like John said, it is just too hot, especially when you walk back as far as I was walking!! I am looking forward to GSW here in a couple of weeks.
I have gotten to a point that I really don't care to pick a gun to go hunting. I would much rather take my bow....and as Crock pointed out in an earlier post, they are being very specific with the weapons in the brochures this year!!
I might hit Arbuckle during muzzleloader week, but that would be about it as far as gun hunting goes. I might take my wife over to Three Lakes during gun season, she enjoys hunting. She asked me a couple of weeks ago about getting a bow for her!!! :eek
Anyways...not discouraged, just taking a break to go fishing. I really need to start spending more time on finding a job!!!
Never speck fished Arbuckle,but man have I caught some bass in there. Me and my buddys use towade fish in there,I wouldn't be caught dead doing that now,or I would prolly end up dead. I knew some guys that dogged that place and they say they kill some fine bucks in there.
