We lucked out and got a doe permit to go with a Jennings Forest hunt for general gun. Be just as happy to take a 3 point or better buck , but having the doe permit was a nice back up. We set out to a spot I'd seen a nice legal buck and a doe last time we were there for hog hunting. Settled down for the midday hunt, and nothing... (<<<insert chipping crickets here!) Decided to change places and walked out a different way and found a couple of cut down trees( on a WMA) and evidence that chances are we won't find a buck here any more.
Passed a nice rattlesnake, by rattlesnake rd( aptly named).
Took a couple of stops to find a promising spot and settled in for the evening hunt. Jay was doing some nice tending grunts and growls and I started to here crashing in the near by swamp head. Shortly after that out came a doe to investigate the sounds. She had to clear a lot of shrubs and when she did she perfectly stopped for me. Dropped her right there with my K31. Nice tender 75 lb er.
