I honestly havent heard anything about any of the different agencies or private companies that own the bulk of the land even saying they would entertain changing dates.
You got a good point, one of the other things on the agenda with these meetings is to try and align the Statewide private land seasons with those on public land. The problem is , Like you say, its usually the landowners who are generally setting the dates, or length of seasons on the individual WMA's. Who is to say that half the primary owners and mangers would be willing to allow the dates to change?
check out the fwc site they got the deer management plan, the whole slide show that was at the presentation and the topics. Also you can fill out a comment card, if your interested or already havent checked it out.
I just want to apologize if anyone felt I was i guess "attacking or callin anyone out" I wasnt. Like I said, I just see the Auto bashing kick in everytime the FWC is mentioned and I get disgusted that it seems like no one is ever happy. We have it pretty darn good in my opinion, and shouldnt knock it so hard.
I can understand and relate to some of your biases FLDXT, but I do have one question for you about the turkey set up story you mentioned. Ok on every WMA I have been on, they have any helicopter landing zones marked on the brochures map, with GPS cordinates and a symbol on the map. I am in no means defending what the pilot did, but if you are set up in one of those landing areas, you have no reason at all to be upset with their actions.
I am not saying that is the case, but if you are, whether thru ignorance on your part from maybe not reading the brochure and checking and studying the map beforehand. Or just because you are "gonna hunt where you want" hunting in one of these landing zones, then you deserve to have your hunt ruined. ok that is harsh, but hunters with those "my way my wants" attitudes like that are some of the biggest problems we have with public land hunting, we all owe it to each other to be respectful of others. OTHERS being other hunters or the WMA's we hunt by following the rules and regs and being aware overall.
Now if you werent in a marked landing area, then you should have been right on the phone to your local FWC office and filing an official complaint, cuz that would have been totally screwed.
P.S. I dont mean anything personal by any of this, just trying to express some thoughts
Not to join in this battle. but I also had helicopters land on me in two different WMA's this last season. Not in landing areas one was the park service and the other was the sheriff office. Neither was the Fwc but still damn annoying!!!!!!!!! Also happened to my buddy a week later 👿 And I mean right on top of me!
Thank God I hunt in oak hammocks and pine thickets 😎
