Shot a Bruiser hog yesterday and a good 7 pt today . Hunted this weekend with a good friend Ron (Pinman) . Another good weekend despite the crappiest weather . Sat started with rain and wind . Got up early on my climber in an area we knew there were good bucks . From the climber didn't see anything . At 10 am decided to do a little stalking combined with scouting . I was looking for a better spot for the afternoon . On my stalking /scouting I ran into several good rubs . I knew we were in the right area . I worked my way over to a swampy area . Hog rooting everywhere . Well I came across this guy , I though he was smaller . He was about 40 yards . I put the scope on his neck and squeesed , he dropped right there . Walked over and noticed he was bigger than I though , Ahh Crap !!!!! . knew if was gonna be fun getting him out . After a long haul with the game cart ,we got him out . The afternoon brought more rain and windier . I changed spot and about 6 pm saw 5 hogs about 70 - 80 yards out but I wasn't gonna shoot them . I was waiting for a buck . About 7 I looked behind and saw a yellow object that wasn't there . I glassed it and it was a small 4 pt , not legal . I knew I was in the right spot then . Sun started out with a little drizzle and windy . We decided to hunt till 11 ish . On the way in saw 2 hogs and passed em . Got up on the stand and 30 minutes later the wind started really blowing , about 20-30 mph . Two deers bolted out from 100 yards away , never knew what they were . As the wind kept blowing I decided to get down , and do some spot and stalk . Worked my way behind a swamp mixed with cyperss and cabbage palms . As I was clearing the swamp I could smell deer piss . I knew he was real close or just went by there . I came into a pine head and heard a snap . I drew my gun up and saw antlers running out of the cabbage head . He was about 40 yards and hauling butt . I put the crosshairs on his shoulder and fired . With all the smoke I couldn't see him . I started to reload and about 100 yards away I saw a deer running . I knew I didn't miss him but man he got there pretty quick . I walked a few feet toward where I had shot and saw a yellow thing on the ground , I was hoping it wasn't a palm frond on the ground . I cocked the hammer back and walked 2 more feet and there he was . Man what a relief . THANK YOU LORD . Was a hell of a weekend . Ron Thanks for your hospitality and helping me drag em . LOL
