What part of GA are you hunting?
My dad's club has had their lease up around Swainsboro for 5 or 6 years, and they've had their best year ever, with 23 deer taken so far. That's just about all they hunt, have yet to see any wild hogs on the place. They have killed a bobcat or two, but most members only care about deer. One guy got a nearly 200lb 8 point, and he also had another 8 and two sixes. The farmers around there planted corn, soy and peanuts the last two years instead of cotton, and the adjacent landowner had several hundred acres clearcut, driving the deer over to dad's lease.
Toomsboro,GA. thats in Wilkinson county i'm not to far from Dave T.4yrs ago we went to a 4 deer limit per member rule 2 does110 lb min.and 2 bucks 4 on one side rule for both bucks.i'll be the first to admit i did not like it the first couple of years but this year we have really seen the results.shot an 18pt last year off this lease and seen 2 this year during bow season that will out score him.
we have 6 members on 1000 acres up there we r bordered on one side by a river an 800 acres that is owned by a lady who allows no hunting what so ever and is leaving the property to the state wildlife rufuge when she dies if she can.

Hey fella....sounds like you and your boy had an awesome year. Congrats. Update on my place...they are finally getting around to doing the select thinning on our timber..taking out about 50 - 60% of the woods which are volunteer pines and way too thick to hunt ...great places for the deer to hide but almost impossible for us....anyway...started about three weeks ago on my neighbors place and there are 7 of us all with adjoining land going in together on it. Hopefully will open up the woods and make all the difference...should really improve deer and turkey habitat and then we can do a burn. They said they will be doing mine around the end of January...cant wait...going to try to get them to put in two roads that I need also.. and save me some money on that too. Will finally be able to get off the plots and into the woods better. Next time you and I are up together you need to come take a look.
