I'm originally from SE Indiana, but have lived in FL since high school. I am currently about a year-1.5 years from finishing a degree in Microbiology at USF. I live close to the the Tampa campus. I grew up hunting whitetails in Indiana, but this is my first season hunting here. I finally found a hunting buddy and we've been getting out in Green Swamp 1-2 times a week and I go 1-2 times a week by myself. We also hunted Ocala for a weekend.
He tagged a spike this past Saturday. I've seen a bunch of does, and one nice basket rack 6 point (but of course I was in the middle of taking a leak). Only one small hog, and didn't get a shot at him either. Nailed one squirrel though 🙂
On the water side of it, I worked as a charter boat first mate for 5 years out of Fort Myers Beach, fishing on party boats and private charters, doing trips up to 4 days in length for grouper and snapper, also did a lot of shark fishing during the summer. If any of you ever want to go fishing down there, let me know, as I have worked for or with a majority of the guys down there.
I am off of school until about halfway through January, and am going to be hunting as much as I can handle it. Always nice to have new hunting buddies, so if anyone is in need of a partner within a reasonable distance from Tampa, I'm game.
Welcome to the site. :toast
Welcome,I usually make a couple good offshore trips a year. I'm always looking to go fishing on a good boat.Indiana is a state I haven't hunted yet that I'd lke to try.
If you're ever wanting to fish down that way, Capt. Hans Evald of the Southwind (239-333-6477), out of Getaway Marina is the man to go with. I worked with him for quite awhile and spent countless hours in rough and nice seas on that boat. He works hard to catch fish, damn near kills a mate. I pulled the anchor 17 times on a 10 hour trip on a slow summer day once....
