Welcome, Tim. Remember, both Eglin and Hurlburt Field have marinas where you can rent boats and fishing gear and fish Choctaw bay and Santa Rosa Sound. There's also fishing around some of the bridges, but since I left there in 1998, things have probably changed a bit so that I can't be too specific! The west jetties at Destin Pass also produce some good reds, sheepheads, mackerel, etc.

Welcome Tim, I am right here in Destin, feel free to PM me and I will send you my #. I can hunt Eglin and Blackwater but have a private lease outside Panama City so go there more. You are active duty so every thing in FL is much cheaper for you, license wise. Good Luck! Frank
