New here from Dallas, TX. Recently got stationed at NAS with the AF unit here for training. Trying to figure out the ins and outs of hunting public lands as back in TX I had plentiful access to thousands of private acres out west so grabbing my Marlin and chasing down some hog was a non issue and deer season was a joy. Here I am at a loss trying to figure out how it all works. I want to make it out to try and take a couple hogs and probably a buck or two this year but where can you get a good explanation on how the WMAs work? Do you just get your licence, go to the WMA and pay the entry fee or whatever and go hunt, end of story? What about cams and feeders or stands? Is it just kinda the honor system with that stuff out there and hope nobody takes it or what? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
welcome
welcome,no baiting on wma, need to buy a wma permit when you buy your hunting license and a deer permit, take your chances on leaving a game cam in a wma,go deep into the wma you plan to hunt to get away from everyone else
also read the regs on the wma you plan to hunt, they are not all the same, some are quota hunt only, others are quota permit for first 9 days in gen. gun season, some are no quota permit required
Your rec dept at the base is in control of 500 thousand acers aroud you. I would start there.
